Temple Sinai depends in large part on volunteers who give their time, energy and expertise in helping our mission move forward. Our Temple Board comprises a cross-section of members who meet on a monthly basis to discuss issues particular to the synagogue goals, membership and property. Substantially all board meetings are open to the entire membership.

The Executive Committee meets once a month to review in more detail the concerns of the day, the financial health of the organization and long-range planning.

To get involved contact Drew Barkley, Executive Director, at (412) 421-9715 X 111.

2018-19 Leadership

President: Philip L. Lehman, PhD

I write to you in amazement.  As I’ve been thinking about becoming the next  president of Temple Sinai, I am truly amazed at all that we are.  Most importantly, we are open, in many senses of the word.  We set a high bar for openness.
In these challenging times we work hard to be open to all people--those who are like us, and especially those who are not like us.  We work to understand and actively welcome those from different faiths, those from different backgrounds, those of different abilities, and those with different ideas.  I encourage us to make an extra effort in the coming year to welcome all to Temple Sinai and into our lives.
We work to be open to new ideas and new ways of thinking.  We are not afraid to respectfully discuss the pros and cons of new and creative paths for Temple Sinai.  Our Pledge 2017 is an innovative  way to support our synagogue.  We have learned from a handful of congregations across the US and are now embarking on our own bold initiative.  I urge us to remain open to new thoughts and to embrace Pledge 2017, with our financial support as we are able, and with our ideas and thoughts as we refine this program and Temple life.
And, we are truly a community, open to each other.   We are together in times of happiness and sorrow, prayer and song.  We work together in a variety of organizations--such as our auxiliaries and Centers--and in many settings, within the building and outside, repairing the world not only on Mitzvah Day but every day.  I hope we always will be open to new ways to be with each other and help each other.
Let us continue to find new ways to be open.  I look forward to discussing your new ideas and our community efforts to move forward.
